However, as we enter a milestone anniversary year, it felt only right to reintroduce the quartet of partners who have shaped our firm's reputation for excellence over the last four decades.
Back in 1986, Scott Schulten established a small firm in Atlanta's Hurt building with big dreams. Already a respected legal mind in the CRE world, Scott quickly reinforced his reputation as a trusted attorney in all things real estate - including sales, leases and project development, as well as the formation, sale and acquisition of ongoing business ventures.
The firm's first name addition occurred in 1991 when Schulten & Associates became Schulten & Ward. In this case, Ward refers to Kevin Ward, who was already regarded as one of the region's top litigators for both high-profile business and personal matters. In addition to real estate law, Kevin is an accomplished business attorney whose expertise is often requested for patent law and lending matters. His typical clients involve regional developers, property managers, investment funds, banks, receivers and entrepreneurs.
David Turner's name was added to the marquee a few years later, in 1994. He's exceptionally versatile regarding Georgia law, thanks to both a relentless work ethic and a long-standing interest in legal research. His areas of expertise include business litigation, personal injury and professional liability law. David is well-versed in insurance law, which often drives strategies to maximize recoveries in injury cases and other tort actions. Additionally, David leads our practice group that specifically caters to franchise motor vehicle dealers.
Eric Weiss is our fourth named partner - an addition that occurred as part of our 30th anniversary in 2016. Like our founder, Eric is a renowned real estate attorney known for representing some of the area's brightest real estate and influential stakeholders. He's a multi-sector commercial real estate expert, respected for his experience in drafting and negotiating purchase and sale agreements, loan agreements, development agreements and more. In addition, Eric is an M&A expert his clients can count on and is a trusted adviser for the most complex business needs.
